Aap Condemns Detention Of Protesters At Azad Maidan | Mumbai News – Times of India | IIT EXPERT

Mumbai: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has questioned the police action of detaining the protesting supporters at the Azad Maidan police station through Thursday night.
The supporters were protesting outside the Ballard Estate office of city Enforcement Directorate against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case.
At a press conference on Saturday, AAP Mumbai chief Preeti Sharma Menon said 10 protesters were arrested and produced in the court Friday.“We were detained all night and treated poorly by the police. While many were released in the morning, 10 were kept in custody and taken to court. This was a shocking experience for us. “ The court emphasised the right to protest under the Indian constitution. It found no valid reason for their preventive detention, stating that mere slogan-shouting does not disrupt law and order. The court released us,” said the party’s working president Ruben Mascarenhas.
AAP also criticized the BJP for allegedly receiving Rs 60 crore through electoral bonds from Sarath Chandra Reddy, an accused in the Delhi liquor scam case and owner of Aurobindo Pharma. Preeti said, “Reddy altered his statement under duress during his jail custody to implicate Kejriwal and he also paid Rs 60 crore to the BJP via electoral bonds to come out from the jail. Earlier the BJP called him the mastermind of the liquor scam, why don’t the authorities act against the BJP and its president, for collecting money from ‘the liquor scam mastermind’.” —Vijay V Singh
