Bihar Board Class 12 Result 2024: Analysis, Pass Percentage and More – Times of India | IIT EXPERT



Patna: Keeping with the trend, this year too girls outshone the boys with an average pass percentage of 88.84%, while boys scored 85.69% in the intermediate exam, the results of which were announced by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Saturday.
The overall pass percentage in class XII for all streams- science, arts and commerce, witnessed a slight increase of 3.51 per cent, as 87.21% of the students who appeared for the exams passed in the session 2023-24.Last year, the pass percentage was recorded at 83.70%.
Patna’s boy Tushar Kumar from College of Commerce, Arts and Science strict, emerged as the state topper by securing 96.40% in arts stream. The second place was secured by Mrityunjay Kumar from GH Uchh Vidyalaya Sah Inter-College, Barhariya in Siwan district, with 96.20% in science stream. At the third place was Priya Kumari from Mahatma Gandhi Adarsh Uchh Vidyalaya, Babanbhigha in Sheikhpira. She scored 95.60% marks, which was 478 out of 500 marks in commerce.
A scrutiny of the results revealed that students from commerce stream have scored the highest percentage among all streams standing at 94.88%. Students of science stream had the occupied second spot with pass percentage of 87.80%, followed by arts (86.15%) and vocational (85.38%).
A total of ­11,26,439 students, comprising 5,73,656 boys and 5,5,2783 girls passed the examination, with 12,91,684 kids wrote their papers from February 1 to 12 at 1,523 exam centres in the state. As many as 5,24,939 students make it to first division, 5,04,897 passed with second division and 96,595 with third division whereas while 1,65,245 flunked in the examination.
Addressing the media persons, Chairman of the Board, Anand Kishor said it was the sixth consecutive year since 2019 when they released the results of intermediate annual examination in the month of March only.
“The process from conducting the examinations to releasing the results is being completed by the Board in record time, by using modern technology. The result has been published within 29 days from the date of evaluation, which was started from February 24, 2024 and more than 68 lakh copies and more than 68 lakh OMR sheets of 12.9 lakh candidates were evaluated,” he said.
Kishor further said that if any student was not satisfied with the results, then an opportunity for scrutiny will be given by the Board, from March 28 to April 4. “This year the online examination form for intermediate special examination 2024 as well as intermediate compartmental examination, 2024 will be filled from March 28 to April 4. The results will be announced by May end, so that the students will not lose a year,” he said.
According to the Board Chairman, every year more than one lakh students of CBSE, ICSE and other examination boards are enrolling in Bihar Board, due to release of results in record time, students get enough time to prepare for the competitive examinations, changes made in the subject and question paper pattern of annual examinations as per the pattern of competitive examination, recognition of state board at national level and toppers get more than 90% marks.
Kishor added: “In the year 2023, 1,08,202 students of other boards took admission in class 11 of Bihar Board. From the year 2018 to 2023, more than 5.95 lakh students enrolled with the state board.”
Students, who scored first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth position would get a lap top and a kindle e-book reader apart from Rs one lakh to first position holder, Rs 75,000 to second, Rs 50,000 to third and Rs 15,000 to fourth, fifth and sixth position holders.
