Mumbai: A leopard was spotted in Vasai fort on Friday night. The forest department has set up a camera trap to track the big cat. It is the first time in years that a leopard has been spotted in the fort. Around 8 pm, a leopard while trying to cross the road was hit by a motorbike. The wild cat escaped from the spot.
Forest officials said the leopard could have sustained injuries when it jumped off the fort wall on the road.The biker too sustained minor injury.
Forest officials have warned picnickers to stay away from the fort at night. Morning walkers have been told to watch out for the cat. The fort is frequented by people on weekends. Pre-wedding shoots take place here. Pugmarks were seen at the fort. TNN
