Mumbai Ranji Team Players To Receive Bcci-level Match Fees | Mumbai News – Times of India | IIT EXPERT

Mumbai: In an initiative aimed at encouraging the city’s players to play more red-ball cricket and aspire to play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, the Mumbai Cricket Association, following a proposal in this regard by its president Amol Kale, on Saturday announced that the MCA will also pay match fees — the same fees that the BCCI gives to the players- to Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy players from the 2024-25.
The MCA will thus probably become the first association in India to give a match fee to the players. Presently, those who’ve played more than 40 First-Class matches (and are in the playing XI) get Rs, 2,40,000 at the league stage (four-dayers), and Rs 3,00, 000 (five-dayers) at the knockouts, from the BCCI as match fee in the Ranji Trophy. However, post the MCA’s ‘top-up scheme’, players in this category will earn Rs 4,80,000 per match in the league stage, and Rs 6,00,000 per match in the knockout stage.
Those who’ve played 21-40 FC matches (and are in the playing XI) will get Rs 1,00,000 per Ranji match from now on, while those who’ve played less than 20 matches (and are in the playing XI) will get Rs 80,000 per Ranji match.
“We felt that the player should earn more, especially those who play Ranji Trophy cricket. For us, red-ball cricket matters the most as Ranji Trophy holds a special place for everyone in Mumbai,” Kale said.
“This initiative reaffirms the MCA’s commitment in promoting the rich legacy of Indian cricket and nurturing the talents of tomorrow,” said MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik.
