UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2024 exam postponed due to Lok Sabha elections, new date announced – Times of India | IIT EXPERT



NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission on Tuesday rescheduled the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024, which was set to be conducted on May 26, 2024. As per the notification released by the commission, the UPSC CSE prelims exam 2024 will now be held on June 16.
The rescheduling of the exam timetable was made following the announcement by the Election Commission on Saturday regarding the schedule for the 18th Lok Sabha elections, which are set to take place from April 19 to June 1, 2024.
“Due to the schedule of the impending General Election, the Commission has decided to postpone the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination – 2024 which also serves as screening test for Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024 from 26-05-2024 to 16-06-2024,” reads the official notification.The UPSC IAS written exams will be conducted in two shifts – General Studies and Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). The GS paper will be held in the morning session from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, while the afternoon session will be conducted from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Previously, the Commission had extended the registration deadline for the UPSC IAS exam 2024. According to the official announcement, the registration deadline was extended until March 6 at 6 PM. Subsequently, the correction window remained open from March 7 to March 13.
The commission will release the UPSC IAS prelims admit card 2024 at least 10 days prior to the exam. Once available, candidates will be able to download their UPSC Prelims hall ticket 2024 from the official website at upsc.gov.in. To download the UPSC Civil Services admit card for 2024, individuals should use their registration number along with their roll number or date of birth.
This year, the UPSC has announced a total of 1,056 vacancies for the CSE exam and 150 for the Indian Forest Service (IFoS). The UPSC CSE assessment comprises three phases: prelims, mains, and the personality test. The preliminary exam for UPSC CSE will feature objective-type questions. Aspiring candidates who score above the specified cut-off marks will qualify to register for the UPSC CSE Main Exam 2024.
The UPSC IAS Main exams are scheduled to be conducted from September 20, spanning five days.
According to the CSE notification, candidates must meet specific age criteria to qualify for the exam. They must be at least 21 years old but not older than 32 years as of August 1, 2024. This means candidates must have been born between August 2, 1992, and August 1, 2003.
