Wall collapse in N’sopara kills labourer | Mumbai News – Times of India | IIT EXPERT



Mumbai: A 30-year-old labourer was killed and four others sustained injuries after they got buried underneath a compound wall that collapsed in Nalasopara on Tuesday.
Illegal construction of a godown was underway at Choudhary compound in Pelhar, Nalasopara (east). Five labourers were carrying out construction of a 20-feet-high compound wall when portions of the wall collapsed and fell on them.The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) fire brigade personnel reached the spot and pulled out the victims from the debris. They were taken to civic hospital where Dashrath Lahade was declared dead on admission. Shailesh Shingada (19), Kalpesh Nagole (19), Bharat Dumada (20) and Ramu Mage (25) sustained injuries on their bodies.
Pelhar police said those responsible for construction of the illegal godown are being questioned. A number of illegal commercial establishments have come up in Pelhar over several years. Locals said structures are constructed overnight. tnn
